The RFTC Walk for Life is an outdoor community walk that brings people together each year to raise funds and awareness for cancer care in Japan. It’s a more open, accessible event than the gala fundraisers — a morning among supporters, survivors, and advocates at the waterfront in Odaiba.

Volunteers keep the day running, from start-line setup to course guidance and packdown. The event also welcomes medical volunteers — healthcare professionals and anyone with a current first aid certification — to ensure all participants are supported throughout. For most roles, no specialized background is needed; just the willingness to show up.

70 – 80 members

Participate as a volunteer member (No experience required)
*Requirements: 18 years or older (High school students not allowed)

1. Join as a Operational Support member

  • Roles: (will be determined by RFTC Japan office)

2. Join as a Volunteer for Medical Support

  • Qualification
    Open to medical professionals, medical or nursing students, or anyone who has completed a general first aid course (such as bleeding control, CPR, and AED use) within the last three years and holds a valid certification
  • Role
    Providing first aid in case of participant injuries.

Notes:

  • Volunteering roles will be determined by the RFTC Japan office.
  • You cannot choose to show up late or leave early.
  • A volunteer leader will be designated for each team by RFTC Japan to help ensure smooth operations on the day. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated.
  • Volunteers must cover their transportation costs.
  • We can provide a ‘Volunteer Certificate’ if needed. Please request it in the applicable column.
  • The event will proceed even in the case of rain, so please bring your own rain gear if necessary.
  • There are no changing rooms, so please arrive in appropriate attire for the activity.”
  • You can store your belongings in the cloakroom. Please take extra care of your valuables. The organizers and staff will not be held responsible for any theft or loss.
  • A light meal and gift bag will be provided to all volunteers. (We cannot provide customized obento boxes, so please bring your own food if you have any dietary restrictions.)
  • If, at any time, you cannot make your shift after signing up, please notify the RFTC Japan office immediately via email or phone call. This will allow the office to find a replacement for you.
