About RFTC Japan

Run For The Cure Foundation (RFTC) Japan is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives through breast cancer education, early detection, and compassionate support.

Despite medical advances, Japan continues to face alarmingly low screening rates and rising breast cancer diagnoses—especially among younger women. Many delay screening due to fear, misinformation, cost, or cultural barriers. RFTC Japan exists to change this reality through education, advocacy, and direct community action.

Since our founding, we have worked tirelessly to break down barriers to screening, raise awareness, and empower women and families across Japan to take control of their breast health. Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in Japan, and early detection remains one of the most powerful tools for survival.

At RFTC Japan, we believe that no woman should face this disease alone—and no life should be lost due to lack of awareness, access, or support.

Our Mission

Our mission is to reduce breast cancer mortality in Japan by:

  • Promoting early detection and regular screening
  • Providing reliable education and resources
  • Supporting patients and survivors emotionally and practically
  • Funding lifesaving programs and community outreach

Our Vision

We envision a Japan where:

  • Every woman understands her breast cancer risk
  • Mammograms and self-checks are part of routine health care
  • Fear and stigma no longer delay diagnosis
  • Survivors are supported with dignity and compassion

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Transparency, and responsible use of funds
  • Working hand-in-hand with medical professionals
  • Reaching underserved communities
  • Ensuring compassion is at the heart of everything we do

Every donation, every event, and every shared conversation brings us one step closer to a future where breast cancer is detected early—and survival is the expectation, not the exception.

What We Do

Education & Awareness

We educate women of all ages on the importance of monthly self-checks and regular mammograms through community programs and public events at schools, workplaces, and beyond.

Early Detection Programs

We advocate for increased screening access, and support initiatives that help women receive timely mammograms and follow-up care.

Patient & Survivor Support

We stand beside those facing breast cancer with compassion—offering emotional support, resources, and encouragement throughout treatment and recovery.

Fundraising & Community Events

Through signature events like Pink Ball, awareness campaigns, and community runs, we raise critical funds and unite the community in support of our mission.

Our Story

RFTC Japan was founded after personal experience with breast cancer and the unshakable belief that early detection saves lives.

What began as one woman’s mission has grown into a nationwide movement of survivors, medical professionals, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters, all united by one goal: to ensure fewer families in Japan lose a loved one to breast cancer.
