{"id":5282,"date":"2024-05-07T11:20:03","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T02:20:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.rftcjapan.org\/?p=5282"},"modified":"2026-02-26T14:51:47","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T05:51:47","slug":"task-force-updates-guidance-for-breast-cancer-screenings-for-women-40-and-older","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rftcjapan.org\/en\/news\/task-force-updates-guidance-for-breast-cancer-screenings-for-women-40-and-older\/","title":{"rendered":"Task force updates guidance for breast cancer screenings for women 40 and older"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(CNN) \u2013 Women are now advised to get a mammogram every other year starting at age 40 and until age 74, according to new recommendations from the US Preventive Services Task Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uspreventiveservicestaskforce.org\/uspstf\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-files\/uspstf-briefing-packet-20118.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USPSTF<\/a>, a volunteer panel of independent medical experts whose recommendations help guide doctors\u2019 decisions and influence insurance plans, previously recommended that biennial mammograms start by age 50 and the decision for women to screen in their 40s \u201cshould be an individual one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These new <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jama\/fullarticle\/2818283?guestAccessKey=24c51c29-76d3-4743-9dd2-a7b14f990871&amp;utm_source=For_The_Media&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=ftm_links&amp;utm_content=tfl&amp;utm_term=043024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recommendations<\/a>, published Tuesday in the medical journal JAMA, replace the task force\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uspreventiveservicestaskforce.org\/uspstf\/recommendation\/breast-cancer-screening-january-2016\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2016 recommendations<\/a>.
